Getting Settled

It seems like we never have enough time for blog posts these days. We have barely had time to breathe!  Thankfully, things are starting to settle down. Hooray!!

A lot has happened over the past few weeks...

My brother came to visit! Unfortunately, we moved to a new apartment the same weekend so we weren't able to spend the entire weekend with him. Here are a few pictures from his visit a few weeks ago.

Tyler, Kevin, Audrey, and Jon

We haven't changed one bit

We went to Off the Grid at Fort Mason where a TON of food trucks lined up to feed SF! We ate at Senor Sisig... burritos with french fries inside! YUMMM. It was fun, but as usual since it's summer, it got really cold.

We spent all of Saturday moving and then on Sunday we had a chance to meet up with everyone at Dolores Park. It was such an incredible day - perfect to spend the afternoon at the park.

We look forward to Kevin's next visit! He loves this city so much. He can't stay away!

Our move to the Marina went really well. We are almost all settled, just a few more things we need. Like a microwave...and a toaster. I'll write more about our new place in a following post, but I'll give you a little sneak peak at our new place :)

Also in big news.... I got a job! I am the newest Design Associate at La Tavola Fine Linens! I am very very eager to start working for this great company! I will start the second week in July.

Over the past 3 weeks I've been keeping very busy with a full time temp job for a start-up as well as making it to lots of interviews. I have been very fortunate to have a lot of opportunities out here but have decided on a wonderful job where I will be very happy!

I know I have a lot more to write but this will have to do for now. Thanks for checking in on us!

Union Street Festival - Party Time

Emily and I threw our first SF party this past Saturday - the first party I've hosted at this 2090 Pacific apartment ever. Ironically, we are leaving this apartment for a new one this coming weekend, but what the hell, right? Go out with a bang!

The party was inspired by our roommates Stephen and Renee - veterans of the San Francisco scene.   For those of you who haven't visited (Attention: Pretty much all of our friends), our apartment is an easy four blocks from Union St - one of the main dining and shopping avenues in the city. This weekend, the city hosted the 36th Annual Union Street Festival. The event is a San Francisco staple featuring the best bay area food vendors, craft and antiques dealers and, of course, lots of street partying.

Anyway, the festival officially started at noon, so Emily and I decided to host a brunch/pre-party beforehand. The party was a huge success. Our good friend Nick Shelton came over early to help us make some good southern grits and even brought fresh croissants from a local bakery. We also cooked cinnamon rolls and bought a dozen donut holes. For the beverages, we served beer, mimosas and bloody marys (my new personal fave).

As you can see from the pictures above, everyone had a really great time. The first picture is a shot of our tiny kitchen. On the far left of the image is baby Sterling, our friends Taylor and Craig's newborn. Behind them is Nick, the chef himself in red and Karolis who is deep in conversation with Craig. The second picture is nothing special, just the obligatory photo of Emily and I. We are having such an amazing adventure out here and I think this picture captures the happy life we are starting to build together. Finally, you have a picture of me and my boys (that's for you Chris). Karolis (left) and Chris (right) are two of my closest friends from work. Both love startups and can sell in their sleep. Love both of them.

After the party, we all headed down to the Union Street Festival. All in all our first party and the ensuing festivities were a huge success!

I know I always say it's winter...

 ...but I think I'm burnt.

Since it's so windy here and I constantly seem to be cold, with the exception of today, I always forget to put sunscreen on. It's bad. I have very odd tan lines, the kind of tan lines that look funny when you have a bathing suit on. But who knows when I'll put a bathing suit on again!

This is a pretty random post but since I spend most of my day talking to myself (jk, but really), I figured I would talk to you all through this blog! I also want to share some pretty pictures from my afternoon. If you have looked at facebook recently you might have seen a few so I apologize for bombarding you with beautiful scenery again.

This map is not exactly the route I took but it's pretty close. I love running/walking around this city!

Roomies

So I moved in with my best friend...

in San Francisco!

I've been here with Tyler for almost 3 weeks now and it still doesn't seem real. It is so nice to finally be together again! I'm sure that the five people reading this (hi mom!) already know all of my thoughts and feelings about moving to San Francisco and it really is so much better than I had imagined!

We've been planning on starting a blog since the day I got here but we have been having such a good time we have put it off until now. So to spare you from all the lovey dovey details from the last 3 weeks, I will leave you with a few pictures from Bay to Breakers

Bay to Breakers is a 100 year old San Francisco tradition. It's a 12k foot race from the inner bay to the Pacific Ocean. But as you can see above, most people don't go to race :)
